Elodia Anaya Reese, 82, of Center Avenue, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away June 4, 2011 at Landsun Homes. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 7, 2011, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7, 2011, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, 2011, 9:30 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Elodia Anaya Reese was born April 5, 1929 to Margarito and Consuela (Estrada) Anaya. She moved to Carlsbad with her family in 1939. Elodia married Milburn E. Reese on June 7, 1965. She worked at Carlsbad Steam Laundry, Woolsworth and Wackers. She then went to work for Odorless Cleaners where she retired after 30 years of service. She enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her family especially her sisters-in-law. Elodia had a great love for Ricardo and Porfirio. She was a giving person who continually helped her Aunt's throughout their lives and she was extremely close to Mere E. Hernandez. Survivors include her husband, Wilburn Reese, children, Grace Hernandez and husband, Ricardo of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Gene Reese and wife, Edith of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Brenda Beene of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Nelda Townley of Mansfield, Texas, sisters-in-law, Dell Griffin of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Cynthia Huber of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Marcia Hays of Carlsbad, New Mexico; grandchildren, Ricardo, Porfirio, Kelly, Shaune, Patrick, Tina, Leanna, Lisa, Mark, Rene, Tammi, Matthew, Pam and Jimmy: 28 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Celia Lopez Pallbearers will be Porfirio Hernandez, Ricardo Hernandez, Albino Hernandez, Jr., Ernesto Medrano, Matthew Beene, and Patrick Reese. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Israel Hernandez, Shaune Reese and Elsie Hernandez Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
