Elmeta R. Carlile, 71, of South 8th St., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Lubbock Heart Hospital, Lubbock, Texas.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, January 6, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis W. McKinley officiating.
Interment will follow in Division O of the Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Elmeta R. Carlile was born September 17, 1940, in Littlefield, Texas, to John W. and Marie (Johnson) Vandeventer. She graduated high school in Morton, Texas. She attended beauty school in Hobbs where she met Billy Carlile. They were married and made their home in Hobbs. The family moved to Carlsbad in 1983. Elmeta was a loving sister, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a terrific cook. She loved to garden and was a master of crossword puzzles. She was the glue that kept the family taken care of.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Carlile; and brother, Robert Vandeventer.
Survivors are her brother, Johnny V. Vandeventer and wife, Sue of Carlsbad, NM; children: Melissa Metcalf of Carlsbad, NM, Randahl Mills of Carlsbad, NM, Shannon Fannin and JR Goins of Carlsbad, NM; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, 4 great-nieces, 4 great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Vandeventer, Randahl Mills, Troy Metcalf, Ricky Grant, JR Goins, Billy Cawley and Radell Box.
