Elizabeth Burnside Woods, 89, former resident, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Mineral Wells Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mineral Wells, TX. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Graveside service is scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Elizabeth Burnside Woods was born in Flagstaff, AZ, January 9, 1924 to Jeff and Alto (Willis) Rogers. She married Oscar F. Burnside in Fort Sumner, NM on September 3, 1938 and were married 57 years until his death in 1995. In 1996 she married James L. Woods and they were married until his death in 2010. Mary worked outside the family home for a number of years. First and foremost she was a homemaker, raising six children in Carlsbad, NM and Mineral Wells, TX. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Baptist church. She dearly loved singing, working crossword puzzles, crocheting, and her dog, Lover. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Michael G. Burnside; infant son, Oscar R. Burnside; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include sons: John Burnside and wife, Jonnie, of Artesia, NM; Frank Burnside and wife, Linda, of Mineral Wells, TX; daughters: Ann Walker and husband, Robert, of Farmington, NM, Caryol Kiser and husband, J.D. of Jasper, TX; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
