Elisa Hensley Munoz, 87, of Pecos Highway, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Landsun Health Services Center. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - vigil, Monday, April 1, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Monday, April 1, 2013, 7:00 PM at Denton- Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2013, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Caterina, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Elisa Hensley Munoz was born on August 7, 1925, in Carlsbad, NM to Juan T. and Angelita (Carrasco) Hensley. She grew up in Carlsbad. In 1945, Elisa married Danny S. Munoz. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Elisa enjoyed crocheting and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She always enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Elisa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Danny S. Munoz in 1980; daughter, Rosanne M. Acosta; son, Michael H. Munoz; sister, Rosa Gonzalez; brothers: Juan Hensley, Jr. and Samuel Hensley; and sister-in-law, Manuela Franco. Survivors are her daughter, Patricia H. Munoz of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Mario Munoz and wife, Mary of Carlsbad, NM and Samuel Munoz of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Esperanza H. Gonzalez of Chandler, AZ; brother, Jimmy Hensley of Carlsbad, NM; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson Pallbearers will be Aaron Acosta, Tim Acosta, Mark Munoz, Matthew Munoz, Daniel Munoz and Samuel Munoz Jr. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
