Edra G. Barnes, 79, of Prospect Street Carlsbad, NM passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Edra was born on January 27, 1945, in Ray, AZ to James and Edra Robinson.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be private services held at a later date. Interment will take place at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM.

Edra moved to the Carlsbad area from the Grand Canyon when she was one years old. Her father was a park ranger, and he transferred to work at the Carlsbad Caverns, where they lived for a while. Her father was also a mechanic, miner, tour guide, and accomplished self-taught musician. He played multiple instruments and brought so much joy into his family’s lives. Her mother was the opposite from her dad. She was itty bitty, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her mother was they best mom there ever was.

Edra carried on the examples her parents lived for her, and instituted an environment of love and joy for her own family. She was always nurturing and caring for others and was the rock of her family. Her most treasured accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. Edra was a member of the VFW, Senior Citizen Center, and Happy Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed dancing and listening to country music. Her two favorite artists were Elvis and Merle Haggard. She also had a joy for nature, finding beauty in all flowers and trees, and her favorite animals were, elephants, monkeys, moose, and bears. Edra’s greatest life lesson and advice she gave, was always set yourself up for success. She believed one should work hard, so they could enjoy retirement without worries. Edra leaves behind a lasting legacy for her family, who will carry her on in their hearts forever.

Edra was preceded in death by her father, James Nicholas Robinson; mother, Edra Genevieve (Leck) Robinson; sister, Marti Fitzpatrick; and brother, Jess Robinson.
