Edna Marrs Hodges

Edna Marrs Hodges, 86, of N. 8^th Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away January 16, 2024 at Northeast Methodist Hospital, San Antonio, Texas.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, January 26, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Plumlee officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, NM.

Edna was born January 25, 1937, in Lorena, Texas, to Ralph and Verna (Pool) Marrs.  She graduated from Carlsbad High School and attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM, receiving her teacher’s certificate.   Edna married Paul M. Hodges April 19, 1960 in Roswell.  She taught elementary classes in Alamogordo, Roswell, Belen and Grants.  After moving back to Carlsbad, Edna often substituted with the Carlsbad Municipal Schools.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul M. Hodges; son, Paul H. Hodges and sister, Barbara Mitchell. 

Survivors are her daughters: Susie Cone and husband, Robert, Pam Hinojos and husband, Gemini; Mark Hodges and wife, Hyeok, Zane Hodges; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.
