Edith E. Birchell 79, of Carlsbad, New Mexico went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2016. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Memorial service is scheduled for November 04 at 1:00 pm at Blodgett Street Baptist Church with Pastor David Prell officiating. A private Interment will be held following the service at Carlsbad Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Edith was born December 01, 1936 to Walter and Katherine Wood in Carlsbad, NM. Edith attended local elementary schools and graduated from Carlsbad High School. In her younger years, she was employed at various places throughout Carlsbad until she became self-employed. She owned and operated Edith's Fishnet and Edith's Reflexology. She loved to take her two poodles for joy rides and they stayed by her bed until she passed away. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles and study homeopathic alternatives. She and her late husband loved to travel throughout the country. Donation can be contributed to Noah's Ark Animal Shelter. She is preceded in death by husband Milton Wayne Birchell, Brothers William J. Wood, and Walter A. Wood Jr. Granddaughters Nancy Haggerton and Crystal Whiteley Ruiz, Great-Grandson Dakota Baldwin, Grandson Jason Brooks, and Daughter-in-law Glenda Whiteley, and best friend Tony L. Subia. She is survived by her Children Ricky Whiteley and wife Cathy of Carlsbad, Rebecca Esparza and husband Sonny of Monahans, Tx, Randy Whiteley of Carlsbad, Russell Whiteley of Hobbs, NM, Melissa Martin and husband Ricky of Idalou. Tx, and Amy Johnson and husband Josh of Artesia, NM, brother Edward E Wood and wife Margie of Santa Maria, Ca, 15 Grandchildren, and 26 Great-children. A special thanks to the TLC Home Health Care care givers; Cristina Green, Christina Baca and Ashley Ragland for their diligence, compassion, and professionalism in caring for our mother.
