Durees Carriaga

On December 10, 2021 Durees Carriaga passed from this life to her next glorious life. She was born to Allen and Lucille (King) Murdock on July 11th 1937 in Hobbs NM. She moved with her family as a toddler to the Bay Area in California until her senior year of High school when she moved to Albuquerque. There she met Her love , Orlando. They married in January of 1957 and their first child, Tami, was born in October of that year. Their second, Mike, was born in 1959 and Marci in 1964. In 1966 they moved to Carlsbad where she remained until September of this year when she moved to Las Cruces.

While in Carlsbad she worked as secretary for IMC, Desert Fiesta, assistant to Dr Taylor, and Dr Lim.

A gourmet cook, gardener, seamstress, and an avid reader. She taught Sunday school and traveled to Peru on missions trips. Travels to Italy and Puerto Rico were some of her fondest memories, and she was very active in the Community Theater. She was involved in a host of activities that her family participated in and always their biggest cheerleader.
She never forgot anyone's Birthday, calling every family member and singing to them right up to her passing.

Durees was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Orlando. She leaves her daughter Tami Wright & Kent, son Mike & LaDon, and daughter Marci Christian & Ian. Seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren, two sisters, Jeannie Croutch & George and LaRheta Exum & Bill, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

A celebration of her life will be on Saturday January 15th at 2:00 pm at Sunset Church of Christ.
