Doyle B. Whitzel

Doyle B. Whitzel, 70, of West Orchard Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexcio, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, May 23, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Fox and Lake Church of Christ with Pastor Chris Donaho officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Doyle B. Whitzel was born November 18, 1943 in Seminole, Texas to Arnold and Helen (Respress) Whitzel. He married Margaret Grimes on April 13, 1989 in Albuquerque, NM. They were married 25 years. Doyle served four years in the Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. He enjoyed watching sports and loved the cavemen. Doyle was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed and dearly loved his family. Doyle was a very friendly and out going person and he never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Survivors are his wife, Margaret Whitzel of Carlsbad, NM; children: Les Whitzel and wife, Debbie of Charleston, SC, Dina Schaiffo and husband, Bobby of Georgetown, TX, Kevin Whitzel of Lubbock, TX, Dana Delgado of Lubbock, TX, Ricky Whitzel of Carlsbad, NM David Whitzel and wife, Michelle of Carlsbad, NM, Michael Whitzel and wife, Sara of Carlsbad, NM; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Paul Orr, David Orr, Brandon Davis, Bobby Schaiffo, Sandon Whitzel and Joe Saunders. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
