Dorothy M. Atkinson, 87, of Vine Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at her home.
Private services took place. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Dorothy M. Atkinson was born October 4, 1928 in Lecompte, Louisiana to Eddie and Opal Aline (Butter) Milam. She graduated from Minden High School, Minden, LA in 1946. Dorothy went to work for Southern Bell Telephone - Telegraph Co. in 1946. She moved to Carlsbad where she met and married William Harold Atkinson August 2, 1948. Dorothy also worked for General Telephone Co., St. Francis Hospital and PCA Federal Credit Union before retiring. She was a member of Fox and Lake Church of Christ where she taught Bible classes in past years. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Robert Lawson; stepmother, Lucille Milam; husband, William H. Atkinson; grandson, Devon Clinton; brother, Joe Milam and sisters, Mildred Weaver and Edwina Milam.
Survivors are her daughters: Carolyn Vest, Mary Patterson and husband, Don; brother, Eddie Milam, Jr.; sisters: Anita Slade, Myra Hinson, Edith Cox, Patricia Bailey and numerous nieces and nephews.
