Dorothy Fooks

Dorothy Fooks, 85, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 6, 2009 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 11, 2009, 9:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dorothy Fooks was born July 15, 1924 in Maysville, Oklahoma to Brit and Emma (Orr) Hendrix. She grew up in Oklahoma and was one of 15 siblings. Dorothy graduated from Choctaw High School in Oklahoma City where she was Valedictorian. She married Leslie Eugene Fooks on August 17, 1943 in Stamford, Texas. Dorothy and Gene moved to Carlsbad in 1971. Dorothy worked for Kern Smith, Architect, and Charles Seccora, MD, for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene Fooks on October 31, 2009, and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters - Dr. Jackie Fooks of Bakersfield, CA, and Kathy Gage and her husband, Larry, of Portland, OR; and three grandchildren - Brian Gage and wife, Robin, of Marina Del Rey, CA, Derek Gage of Atlanta, GA, and Leslie Gage of Atlanta, GA.
