Dorothy F. Allen

Dorothy F. Allen, 89, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2011 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 29, 2011, 11:00 AM, at Blodgett Street Baptist Church with Pastor David Prell officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dorothy F. Allen was born March 17, 1922 in Rogers, New Mexico to Benjamin and Irene (Watts) Prater. She married John I. Allen on October 19, 1942 in Portales, NM. She loved her family, her church and keeping the family home. She was a Charter Member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church. Dorothy was a Sunday School teacher for many years and was a great cook. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John I. Allen. Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Royce and Mary Ann of Carlsbad, NM; three grandchildren: Christopher Allen and wife, Crystal of Pearland, TX, Sean Allen of Huntsville, TX, Farah Coleman and Jacob Mendoza of Carlsbad, NM; four great-grandchildren: Caylei Allen of Pearland, TX, Carter Allen of Pearland, TX, Hailie Coleman of Carlsbad, NM, Kenzi Coleman of Carlsbad, NM and brother, Billy Prater and wife, Peggy of Dora, NM. Pallbearers will be Terry Patterson, Keith Lacy, Craig Suggs, Berry Pace, Allan Collier and Doug Burt. Honorary pallbearer is Randy Brooks. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
