Doris Wheeler, 60, of Live Oak Place, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at her home.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 11:00 AM, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Land officiating.
Private interment will be in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico at a later time.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Doris Wheeler was born November 13, 1950 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Tommy and Marie (Roberson) Knott. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1968. Doris worked as office manager for State Farm Insurance until retiring in 2000. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she was involved in numerous musical programs through the years. Doris loved playing her violin and performing with the string quartet. She was truly a person that was talented in so many areas of life. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Knott. The family would like to especially thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Golden Services, Kymera and Carlsbad Medical Center for the exceptional care that they gave Doris.
Survivors are her husband, Charles "Chuck" Wheeler of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Angela Lamberth and husband, Derek of Houston, Texas; son, Jeff Rains of Houston, Texas; three step-daughters: Marsha Wallace and husband, Jim of Greenville, South Carolina, Monica Wheeler of Greenville, South Carolina and Amanda Dunn and husband, Mike of Rome, Georgia; grandchildren: Lindsey Lamberth, Allison Lamberth, Hunter Lamberth, Connor Lamberth, Sean Rains; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, James Knott and wife, Zolene of Carlsbad, New Mexico; two sisters: Carolyn Coleman and husband, Chuck of Clovis, New Mexico and Marsha McMullen and husband, Steve of Boise, Idaho and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Knott, Tommy Knott, Mike Smith, John Austin, Lee Austin, Hunter Lamberth, Connor Lamberth and Sean Rains.
