Doris G. Markham

Doris G. Markham, 92, of South Country Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed from this life and received her heavenly wings on Thursday, September 3, 2015. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1:00 PM, Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Lakeview Chapel with Terry McKean officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Doris G. Markham was born into this world, August 3, 1923 in Vernon, Texas to Theodore A. and Josephine Matilda (Short) Besselman. She grew up in Vernon with her two sisters. Doris met the love of her life, Cecil Markham in 1944 while working at Pantex. They married a year later on February 20, 1945. After having their one child, Cloyde Markham, the family moved to Carlsbad in 1963. Doris attended NMSU and graduated with an R.N. Degree in 1976. She was employed at Saint Frances in the NICU and later was employed at Lakeview Christian Home as the Nursing Director, retiring in December of 1984. Doris enjoyed sewing and cooking for friends and family. She loved having her grandchildren around to share her stores with. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Markham and sister, Billie Flanagan. She is survived by her son, Cloyde Markham and wife, Ginger of Carlsbad, NM; granddaughters: Savanah Cass and husband, James of Carlsbad, NM, Sarah Markham of Floresville, TX, LaRay Mayrhofen and husband, Kit of Sierra Vista, AZ; great-grandchildren: Taylee Cass, Haylee, Erin, Tyler and Krysalin Mayrohofen and sister, Jackie Faught and several nieces, great-nieces and nephews.
