Donald "Don" Roberts

Donald "Don" Roberts, 84, of East Plum Lane, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Brian McGonagill officiating. A private interment will be in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donald "Don" Roberts was born May 6, 1931 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to R. L. and Gladys (Pence) Roberts. He attended school in Carlsbad, NM and in 1948 he joined the U.S. Airforce and served during the Korean Conflict until 1954. Don worked numerous construction jobs until joining WIPP in 1985 where he would stay until retirement in 1996. After retirement he enjoyed many hours fishing, having coffee with his McDonalds buddies and traveling with the love of his life, wife Willene. Don was a devout member of Sunset Church of Christ and truly shined as he worked with benevolence and the Angel Food Ministry. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joella Bradford and brother, Howell Roberts. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Willene Roberts; sister, Barbara Ahrens and Lila Hudson both of California; daughters: Ginger Beeler of Texas, Donna Roberts of New York, Jeanine Rogers of Albuquerque, Gwenette Bradley of Carlsbad; grandchildren: Tessa Bradley of Carlsbad, Eric Rogers of Albuquerque and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many more loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Larry Bradley, Jerry Stevens, James Condon, Johny Harris, Charlie Kirkes and Virgil Smith.
