Don "Gibbie" W. Gibson

Don W. "Gibbie" Gibson, 61, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, N.M., passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at Lakeview Christian Home. Per his wishes cremation will take place. A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Don W. "Gibbie" Gibson was born Nov. 14, 1948, in Roswell, N.M., to Leroy and Frances Lavern (Stacey) Gibson. He graduated from Carlsbad High School with the class of 1966, where he was a state champion wrestler. He spent many years playing softball, enjoyed all other sports and was a big fan of fantasy football, and spending time with his numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Leroy and Lavern Gibson, brother Skipper Ronnie Gibson and sister, Sharon Gibson. Survivors include son: Donnie W. Gibson, Jr. and wife Melissa and their son Austin of Denver, Colo.; daughters: Kellie White and husband Keith and son Drew of Carlsbad, N.M.; and Leslie Frintz and children Megan and Chase of Carlsbad, N.M.; brother: Danny Gibson and wife Kathy of Carlsbad, N.M.; sisters: Darlene Ortega and husband Tim of California; Debbie Eldridge and husband Doug of Arizona; and Donna Gibson of Oklahoma.
