Dolph Simpson, 94, of East Plum Lane, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Carlsbad Medical Center. There will be no public visitation. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2015, 10:30 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ken Engledow officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dolph Simpson was born April 5, 1921 in Benton, Illinois to Thomas Adolph and Ethel (Groves) Simpson. He grew up and graduated high school in Illinois. He married Aline Myers on September 6, 1942 in Cape Jerado, Missouri. While serving in the Army Air Corp, Dolph spent 23 month over seas in Japan during World War II. He returned to Illinois and worked for Catapillar in Peoria, Illinois. Dolph attended electrical school in Chicago for 2 years and then worked in the coal mines in southern Illinois for five years. After they moved to New Mexico he worked for Southwest, IMC and worked 25 years at National Potash as a mechanic. Dolph also worked for Eddy County for 5 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Simpson and several brothers and sisters. Survivors are his wife, Aline Simpson of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Nancy Jo Kendrick of Lubbock, TX; son, Michael Simpson and wife, Laura of Las Cruces, NM; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Simpson; sisters: Kathleen Williams, Nell Myers, Jane Kincaid, Delores Spences, Pat Klunck, Gayla Gioconi and numerous nieces and nephews.
