Dessa Wallace

Dessa Wallace, 83, of E. Blodgett Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 27, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Mike Veilleux, Lakeview Christian Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dessa Wallace was born October 24, 1927 in Dickins, TX to Earl Thomas and Florence Etta ( Hawley) Mitchell. She grew up in Texas and moved to Carlsbad at the age of 18. Dessa married Frank Davis in 1943. She worked for the public schools as a cook for many years. After Frank's death, Dessa later married R C Wallace November 19, 1971 in Roswell. She loved her family and friends very much. Dessa will be dearly missed. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frank Davis; son, Gary Don Davis; brother, Claude Garland Edwards; sister, Eloise Eggleston. Survivors are her husband, R C Wallace; daughter, Frances Cravens and husband, Larry of Artesia, NM; son, Frank D. Davis and wife, Nancy of Carlsbad, NM; daughter-in-law, Cindy Davis of Colorado; step-sons: Robert Curtis Wallace of Coleman, TX, Ronnie Wallace and wife, Helen of Hobbs, NM, Bill Wallace and wife, Rhonda of Hobbs, NM; step-daugther, Jody Mullins and husband, Ray of Atlanta, GA; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Jessie Edwards and wife, Suzie; sisters: Darlene Hagle and husband, Leon, LaRue Russell and husband, Claude, Claudine Coon, Pamela Sullivan and Peggy Turner and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Wallace, Bill Wallace, Pete Estrada, Johnny Davis, Jamie Hatchett and Justin Wallace. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
