Dennis Fitch

Dennis Fitch, 91, of North Mesa Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away April 24, 2012 at his home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, April 27, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Carlsbad Cemetery (old section) with Reverend Phillip Price officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dennis Fitch was born on June 9, 1920 in Beauty, Kentucky to Rosco and Anne Wilda (Little) Fitch. He went to work in the West Virginia coal mines in 1940. Dennis married Lena Mae Clark on February 2, 1944. They moved to Carlsbad in 1959. Here he worked on heavy equipment for AMAX and retired in 1983. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God where he had served as a deacon. Dennis was a connoisseur of Western movies and enjoyed Western history. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters. Survivors are his wife, Lena Mae Fitch of Carlsbad, NM; son, Scott Fitch and wife, Vonda Kay of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Audra Fitch of Odessa, Texas, Jaxon Fitch of Portales, NM and Lexie Fitch of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Butch Sowers, Bruce Yates, Harold West, Russell Yates, David Rauch and Bill Sibley.
