Dennis E. Mathieu

Dennis Mathieu, 58, of Chico Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 29, 2011 at Covenant Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 2, 2011, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 1001 N. Canal. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 3, 2011, 10:30 AM at Word of Life Church, 1102 W. Mermod St. with Pastor Daniel Shirley officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dennis Mathieu was born August 14, 1952 in Evian (Quebec Province) Canada to Emile and Rollande (Langevin) Mathieu. He loved to play and watch tennis. Dennis had a very positive, motivating, encouraging, non-judgmental personality, when he decided to do something he would research the latest technology and do it to the best of his abilities. He began his working career following in the footsteps of his father in the mining industry. He moved to Carlsbad with job opportunities at WIPP to provide a stable foundation for his young family. For the past 21 years he worked at the WIPP site as a dedicated employee, the past few years as Hoisting Shift Manager. Dennis was strong, very energized all the time, and always taught Krissy to follow her heart - don't compromise. He was deeply loved and will be missed forever. Survivors include daughter: Kristin Jimenez and husband, Orlando; grandchildren: Trinity Franco, Alanah Jimenez and Layla Jimenez all of Carlsbad, NM; father and step-mother Emile & Bonnie Mathieu of Washington, DC. Pallbearers will be Kenny Padilla, Troy Padilla, Bob Pressett, Ed Lewis, Mike Tanner and Red Keyser. Honorary Pallbearers will be Orlando Jimenez, David Acevdo, Carlos Carrasco, Fred Padilla, Harvey Jimenez. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
