Obituary
Delbert Lee Briones, 71, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born and raised in Carlsbad, graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1965. Delbert started his family then moved to Anaheim, California. He helped build Disneyland. Delbert was involved in the construction of Space Mountain and other Disney attractions. In 1980, he returned to Carlsbad and opened two full service gas stations, offering exceptional and professional service. In his spare time, Delbert coached an all-womens Triple A softball team, The Gamblers. His brother Tim said that today my big brother gained his wings RIP, brother. He embraced life being a hopeless romantic, expressing his love through music, showing a true reflection of his inner self. He was the love of his wife Alices life; her everything. Delbert was best known for The Oddity Shop and his big heart and love of music, helping his community, his family and the Oakland Raiders. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Briones and JoAnn Briones; sisters: Loretta and Mickey and brother, Pat Briones.
Survivors are his wife, Alice H. Briones of Carlsbad, NM; children, Delbert Lee Briones of Dallas, Texas; Debbie A. Munoz and husband, Dick of Carlsbad, NM, Dee Dee Lewitt and husband, Vic of St. Louis, Missouri, Dionne Briones, Renee Briones and Rob Cooke of Carlsbad, NM; Adam Fierro of Carlsbad, NM, Erica Fierro of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Tim and Vivian Briones and family of Carlsbad, NM; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and special friends, George Emmel and Frank Jimenez.
A memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Ray Anaya San Jose Plaza (next to San Jose Catholic Church). Pastor Roosevelt Armendariz, Blake and Chelsea Perez will officiate.
