Dela "Mickie" F. Quintana

Dela F. "Mickie" Quintana, 74, of Mission Avenue, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, at her home. There will be no visitation; cremation will take place. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 10:00 AM, at First Christian Church with Rev. David W. Rogers officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Dela F. "Mickie" Quintana was born on October 25, 1938, in Mereta, Texas to Joe and Lorene (Young) Whitaker. Mickie attended school in Mereta, San Angelo and Carlsbad and graduated from NMSU, majoring in business and education. She married Raul Quintana on April 10, 1955. Mickie enjoyed the years raising her boys and being a mother, as she always put her family first. She owned and operated several family businesses, most recently Etc Gifts. Mickie was a member of First Christian Church. She was known for her compassion, strength and dignity and often helped those in need without the knowledge of others. Mickie was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Joe Whitaker, Jr. Survivors are her husband, Raul Quintana of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Roland Quintana of Carlsbad, NM and Patrick Quintana and wife, Jolie of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Olivia, Sunnie, Summer, Cole (wife Rachel), and Stephanie; sisters: Merle Baldwin and husband, Doug of San Angelo, Texas, Glenda Janek and husband, Leon of Cotulla, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
