Debra Gonzalez, 48, of North Mesa Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at University Medical Center. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Monday, April 13, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2015, 7:00 PM at St. Edward Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2015, 10:00 AM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Debra Gonzalez was born March 2, 1967 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Ben and Linda (Ramos) Saiz. She graduated from Carlsbad High in 1985. She married Fernando Gonzalez on October 5, 1988. Debra graduated from Eastern New Mexico University and later she taught at CISD for 5 years. For the past 17 years, Debra had been working as a Child Development Supervisor at CARC, where she was changing the lives of many kids. Debra was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading. Debra loved to go to her children's events and supported them in everything they did. She loved spending time with her family. Debra will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Saiz. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. A special thank you to the Carlsbad High School Track team. Survivors are her husband, Fernando Gonzalez of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Corina Gonzalez of Carlsbad, NM, Carla Gonzalez of Carlsbad, NM; son, Fernando Luis Gonzalez of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Carol Martinez and husband, Donald of Snyder, TX, Brenda Serna and husband, Lupe of Carlsbad, NM, Nancy Saiz of Snyder, TX; brother, James Saiz of Lovington, NM; father, Ben Saiz of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family. Pallbearers will be Eliseo Ibarbo, Manuel Ibarbo, Ricardo Gonzalez, Willie Gonzalez, Ray Saenz and Jesus Salcedo. Honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephews.
