David R. Meeks

David R. Meeks, 69, of Weleka Lane, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center. There will be no visitation. Services will be held in San Marcos, Texas at a later date. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. David R. Meeks was born April 11, 1944 in New Braunfels, Texas. He married Geraldine Bolton in San Marcos, Texas in 1965. They moved to Carlsbad in 1992. David worked as a draftsman for various Government contractors. He retired in 2010. David enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing. He was a great handyman and was able to fix and/or make anything and was a jack of all trades. David always was willing to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ola and Jack Acrey and grandson, Avery Lee Dickens. Survivors are his wife, Geraldine Meeks of Carlsbad, NM; children: Terri Lynn Poole and husband, Anthony of Swansea, Wales, UK, David Samuel Meeks and wife, Cindy of Carlsbad, NM, Amanda Marie Dickens and husband, Tracey of George West, Texas; grandchildren: David Austin Meeks, Olivia Rose Meeks, Alyssa Elaine Meeks, Efan Rhys Poole, Matthew James Dickens; siblings: Dennis Meeks and wife, Carolann of Angleton, Texas, Steve Meeks and wife, Cindy of Wimberly, Texas, Mollie Troutman and husband, Russell of Saguache, CO, Scott Meeks and wife, Nancy of San Marcos, Texas, Susan Roper and husband, Gary of Carlsbad and numerous nieces and nephews.
