David W. Kayser, 82, of Carlsbad, passed away October 27, 2021 at his home. A service in Celebration of his Life and Holy Eucharist will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, November 30th, 2021 at Grace Episcopal Church with The Rev. Father Rod Hurst+ officiating. David will be interred in the columbarium at Grace Church.
David was born June 22, 1939 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Clio and Marion (Granda) Kayser. He worked for the U.S. National Parks Service for many years, was an avid archeologist and retired as Museum Curator. David was a longtime resident of Phoenix, Arizona, and later lived and worked in Santa Fe, New Mexico before moving to Carlsbad. He received the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Episcopal Church at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Phoenix, AZ. For the past 20 years, David was a devout parishioner of Grace Episcopal Church, Carlsbad, and served on the Grace Church Vestry (board of directors) for several years. Previously, he was a member and vestryman of Saint Bede’s Episcopal Church, Santa Fe, NM. David was an alumnus of Arizona State University, and was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps. David recently celebrated 19 years in recovery. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald George Kayser, and survived by his son, Ben Hawley of Colorado.
