David "Chalano" R. Duran

David R. Duran "Chalano", 56, of Wildrose Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be Sunday, July 24, 2011, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Sunday, July 24, 2011, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 De Baca, Carlsbad, NM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, July 25, 2011, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. David R. Duran "Chalano" was born July 5, 1955 in Carlsbad, NM to Guadalupe C. and Consuelo (Rubio) Duran. He loved listening to "oldies" music and boxing was his favorite sport to watch. Family was very important to David and he loved his grandbabies. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Socorro Martinez; mother, Consuelo Duran; two brothers, Daniel Duran and Ruben Duran; and one sister, Terry Navarrette. Survivors include his daughters, Ann M. Duran and husband, Mike Campos and Jennifer Rodriguez and husband, Jessie of Carlsbad, NM; five grandchildren: Mario Aguilar, Brandy Aguilar, Breanna Hernandez, Jessie "Bubba" Rodriguez, Jr., and Joseph Rodriguez; father, Guadalupe C. Duran and wife, Elvira of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Nancy Lopez and husband, Frank, Yolanda Sing, and Elsie Duran all of Carlsbad, NM, and Olga Medina and husband, Juan of Avondale, Arizona; brothers, Gerald Duran and wife, Linda of Tempe, Arizona, Michael Duran and wife Rosie of Van Horn, Texas, and Rudy Duran and wife, Renthia of Albuquerque, NM; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers are Daniel Duran, Jacob Medina, Gerald Duran, Rudy Duran, Michael Duran and Tony Hernandez. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
