David Becker, 63, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from a stroke at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, NM. He leaves his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth (Bennett) Becker; his mother, Lois (Eaker) Becker; his brother, Dennis Becker and wife, Karen; sister, Kerry Becker; several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, George Becker.
David was born April 18, 1953 in Albuquerque, NM. As part of an Air Force family, he lived in places all over the world, including Okinawa, Guam, and a long stay at Randolph AFB in Universal City, TX. He settled in Carlsbad, NM with family after his father's retirement in 1979. David was a talented and caring salesman, working in several retail stores throughout his career. He was very dedicated to his customers, and they in turn were incredibly loyal to him. David never forgot a face, earning him many friends throughout town. David was passionate in his religion, a faithful member of the Sunset Church of Christ and spent many years teaching Sunday school there. He was also an avid bowler while his health permitted, a member of the Carlsbad Men's bowling league and Carlsbad Christian bowling league. He was also an artist, enjoying drawing and painting in his free time.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 6, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Gardens Cemetery with interment following immediately after. Mike Veilleux and Terry McKean will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Denton Wood Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
