Danny Aguirre Contreras, 54, of Alamosa Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away June 25, 2012 in Carlsbad, NM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, July 6, 2012, 3:00 PM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Cyprian Uline, OFM, Conv. officiating. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Danny Aguirre Contreras was born August 14, 1957 in Pecos, TX to Marcos Fuentez and Angie (Aguirre) Contreras. He graduated from high school in California. Danny served his country in the US Army. He lived in Pecos, TX before moving to Carlsbad in 1996. Danny worked in the potash mines for several years and was currently working for WIPP as an environmental specialist, where he had 14 years of service. He enjoyed coaching and being involved in Nufy's life. Danny's passion was spending time with his family and he was continually planning for the next family get together where he did all the cooking and loved every minute of entertaining. Danny was a dedicated member of St. Edward Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge # 1558 and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, one aunt, Tia Goya and one uncle, Tio Bobby. Survivors are a son; Daniel "Nufy" Vasquez Contreras of Carlsbad, N.M.; his parents; Angie Aguirre and Marcos Fuentez Contreras; siblings: Marcos Contreras, Jr. and wife Glenda of Monahans, TX., Terry Contreras of Pecos, TX., Mike Contreras of Ft. Stockton, TX., Frank Contreras and wife, Elena of Kermit, TX., Nola Contreras of Pecos, TX., Lorie Contreras of Pecos, TX., Nufy's mother, Mandy Vasquez of Carlsbad, NM., numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and nephews.
