Daniel "Danny" Hernandez, 61, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Sunday, March 23, 2014, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, March 24, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Loving, NM with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Daniel "Danny" Hernandez was born on April 30, 1952, in Loving, NM, to Ramon P. and Elva (Palma) Hernandez. He served his country in the US Army. Danny worked as a horse trainer for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Ramon P. Hernandez. Survivors are his mother, Elva Hurst of Odessa, Texas; siblings: Pat Aguilar and husband, Ruben of Artesia, NM, Michael Hernandez and wife, Shirley of Odessa, Texas, Rebecca Carter of Albuquerque, NM, Paulette Palma of Odessa, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
