Obituary Daniel "Dan" Pike, 81 of S. 10th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away on January 1, 2019, a long time resident of Carlsbad. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday, January 4, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Prell officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, (new section), Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In January 1960, Dan met and married Marie McPherson and moved to Carlsbad in 1966. He worked at Amex Potash mine for over 34 years, retiring as a Hoistman. During his time off he enjoyed his favorite pastime-fishing. He also loved hunting and anything outdoors. Most of all he loved his family especially his daughter Renee whom he worshiped and was so proud of and all his grandkids and grand dogs. Dan was a member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Ricky Pike. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss are his wife of 58 years Marie Pike; daughter: Renee Smith; granddaughters: Stephanie Wright and husband Justin, Shannel Stacy and Clarissa Williams; grandsons: Chris Walker and wife Amanda and Ryan Stacy. Two sisters: Gladys McCandless and Mildred Stone. 8 Great Grandkids; 1 Great- Great Grandson and numerous nieces and nephews and family and long time friends. Pallbearers are Don Suggs, Danny Parks, Nippy Howard, Chris Walker, Ryan Stacy and Charles McPherson. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Walker, Justin Wright, Ray McPherson, Rick Thompson, Chris McPherson, Bro. Will McCullough.
