Daniel H. "Porky" Chavez, Jr., 41, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Friday, March 11, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A vigil is scheduled for Friday, March 11, 2016, 7:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, March 12, 2016, 9:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating.
Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Daniel H. "Porky" Chavez was born June 1, 1974 in Huntington Beach, California. He graduated from Carlsbad High School. Porky worked for Constructor's Inc., MSI, Murrill Electric and later with TDM. He was a licensed barber and enjoyed cutting hair as a hobby. Porky coached his boys and always loved watching his sons and nephews play ball. His hobbies included model cars and collecting caps. Porky was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors are his sons: Daniel Isaiah Chavez, III of Artesia, NM, Carlo Chavez of Carlsbad, NM; step-daughter, Analysa Villa of Carlsbad, NM; girlfriend, Brandie Villa of Carlsbad, NM; parents: Nancy and Reynaldo "Capi" Herrera of Carlsbad, NM; father, Daniel H. Chavez, Sr.; sisters: Lisa Acosta and husband, John Michael of Artesia, NM, Maria "Trini" Herrera and Frankie Galindo of Artesia, NM; brother, Jimmy Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; nieces and nephews: Sabrina, John Elvis and Jarod Michael Acosta, J.R. and Shorty Bustamante, Frankie and Memo Galindo and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be John Michael Acosta, Frank Galindo, John Elvis Acosta, Jarod Acosta, J.R. Bustamante and Shorty Bustamante. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel I. Chavez, III, Carlo Chavez, Frank Galindo, Jr., Memo Galindo and Sabrina Acosta.
