Daniel A. Zuniga, 67, of South Maple Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, July 19, 2012, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, July 20, 2012, 1:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski officiating.
Interment will be Monday in Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.

Daniel A. Zuniga was born January 9, 1945 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Roy Ortiz and Amparo (Alvarado) Zuniga. He graduated from Andrew P. Hill High School, San Jose, California in 1963. Daniel was drafted in 1966 serving a total of 6 years in the U.S. Army. He served in Southeast Asia, Panama Canal and two Vietnam Tours. Daniel was awarded two purple hearts, a Bronze Star and a Commendation Medal. He worked in construction for many years. Daniel enjoyed woodworking and refinishing old furniture. His hobbies also included watercolor painting and gardening. Daniel was a lifetime member of the Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are two brothers: Lionel Zuniga of Madera, CA, Joel Zuniga and wife, Josie of Carlsbad, NM; two sisters: Dolores Garcia of Albuquerque, NM, Carmen Lopez of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Chiro Ramirez, Jeff Zuniga, Samuel Huerta, Alfredo Armijo, Beto Dominguez and Lionel Zuniga. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
