Dan L. Smith, 61, of Greer Drive, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away March 29, 2010 at his home.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, April 1, 2010, 3:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Retired Pastor Leonard Foster officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Dan L. Smith was born January 31, 1949 in Carlsbad, NM to Claude "Jack" and Allene (Yarbrough) Smith. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1967. Dan married Kay Ditto on July 26, 1969 in Angleton, TX. They lived in Texas until moving back to Carlsbad in 1983. Dan designed and built the cable systems in South Eddy County and Loving. He went back to school and received a degree from NMSU-Carlsbad. Dan also worked for Meers Engineering out of Abilene for several years until retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Kay Smith of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters: Alisha Thompson and husband, Jerry of Carlsbad, NM, Heather Poncelow and husband, Matt of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren: Ty Thompson, Jordyn Thompson; three sisters: Sue Brown of Big Water, UT, Brenda Lawrence of Albuquerque, NM, Mary Alice Runyan and husband, Ron of San Antonio, TX and several nieces and nephews.
