Dale Lee Oney, 64, of S. Country Club Circle, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends, Thursday, September 20, 2012 at his home.
There will be no visitation, cremation will take place.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday, September 23, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Sunset Church of Christ with Mike Veilleux and Brian McGonagill officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Dale Lee Oney was born November 28, 1947 in Mountainair, New Mexico to Chalmer and Betty (Foster) Oney. He served his country in the US Navy where he was stationed in the Philippines and Puerto Rico, serving a total of four years. Dale married Jennie Cain on December 9, 1971. He worked for IMC Potash for many years. Dale was a master woodworker and craftsman and an active member of the arts and crafts community in Carlsbad running Enchanted Heart Crafts and serving as president of Calico Christmas for 25 years. He was also a member of Sunset Church of Christ. Dale cherished spending time with his family and they all meant everything to him. He was preceded in death by his father, Chalmer "Bunner" Oney; son, John Michael Oney; brother, Preston Oney and sister-in-law, Sallie Oney.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Oney; mother, Betty Oney; two daughters: Melissa Treadaway, Karen Jones; grandchildren: Carter Lacy, Tyler Lacy, Caitlin Treadaway, Rusty Michael, Bryce Jones, Lexi Jones, Thomas Treadaway and great-grandchildren: Natalee DeYong, Ryleigh and Brennon Michael; brother, John Oney; sister, Diana Smith; mother-in-law, Tommie Carlson and husband, Walter and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
