Obituary
C.W. Brownie Ervin, 97, of Jones Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Goodlife Assisted Living. Visitation will be 4:00 PM 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, January 11, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
C. W. Brownie Ervin was born January 31, 1921 in Snyder, Texas to Claude Lee and Rachael Etta (Berry) Ervin. He grew up on a ranch in Kenna, Texas. Brownie was ranching in Bulcher, Texas when he met and married Mary Imogene Pickett September 1, 1940. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After being discharged they moved to Carlsbad in 1946. Brownie worked in the potash mines 15 years. He later helped Imogene run Dairy Queen #2, which they owned until retiring in 1976. Brownie also continued to run cattle as his love for ranching never faded away. He enjoyed lapidary work and making jewelry but most importantly he cherished the time spent with his wonderful grandchildren. Brownie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Imogene Ervin; brothers: Leonard and Andy Ervin; sisters: Lillian Miner and Zonell Rowe.
Survivors are his daughters: Gene Martin and husband, Hal of San Antonio, Texas, Lillian Weldon and husband, Richard of Carlsbad, NM and Vicki Jones and husband, Billy of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Gregory Martin, Haley Rushing, Cindy Kent and husband, Clint, Mike Weldon and wife, Dawn, Aaron Jones and wife, Bethany, Chris Jones and wife, Stephanie; great-grandchildren: Mikala, Ziggy, India, Chelsey, Brittany, Christian, Todd, Corey, Richard, Paris, Mia, Cadence, Pyper, Alexia, Emily and Olivia; several great-great-grandchildren; nieces: Doris Ervin and Pat Earp.
Pallbearers will be Billy Jones, Chris Jones, Aaron Jones, Corey Weldon, Christian Kent and Clint David.
