Mrs. Cruz Rodriguez Corona "Ama", 95, of West Presidio, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away March 3, 2010 at her home.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Friday, March 5, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, March 5, 2010, 7:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 DeBaca, Carlsbad, NM.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2010, 9:30 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church, with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Cruz Rodriguez Corona "Ama" was born May 3, 1914 in Toriean, Mexico to Guadalupe and Gregoria Rodriguez. She was a homemaker. Ama enjoyed watching the Price is Right on TV; She was a great cook and famous for her tacos, tortillas, beans and soup. Ama loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and was the best mother-in-law ever. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pricilino Corona in 1983; two sons: Gregorio Corona, Sr. and Jose Corona and granddaughter, Annie Corona Garcia.
Survivors are two sons: Lupe Corona, Sr. and wife, Dominga, Johnny Corona, Sr. and wife, Flora; two daughters: Maria Corona and Bessie Quintela and husband, Gilbert, Sr., grandkids raised by Ama: Dora Ogas, Betty Sanchez, Greg Corona, Jr. all of Carlsbad, NM; 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brenda Corona, Lupe Corona, Jr., Anna Vasquez, Gilbert Quintela, Jr., Jose Corona and Dora Ogas. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
