Obituary
Craig Vandenberg, 63, of Caballero Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at his home.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Friday, July 20, 2018 at Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Boe Norton conducting. Cremation will take place following the service. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Craig Vandenberg was born December 24, 1954 in San Fernando, California to Harry and Marie (Coleman) Vandenberg. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1973. Craig received a bachelors degree from Brigham Young University. He retired from the State of New Mexico after 29 years and 3 months working in the criminal justice system. Craig married Judy January 1, 1989. He was currently employed with Forrest Tire for the past eight years. Craig was an avid bowler and hit the perfect 300. He enjoyed working as a coach, particularly with the junior league. Craig was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend who always put the needs of others before his own. He was a guiding light and a pillar of strength for those around him. Craig was preceded in death by his father, Harry Vandenberg and son, Jeremy Vandenberg.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Vandenberg of Carlsbad, NM; son, Chris Clepper and wife, Ana of Albuquerque, NM; grandsons: Christian and Jonathan Clepper of Albuquerque, NM; mother, Marie Hargis of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Lorna Utley and husband, Danny of Artesia, NM; brother, Gordon Vandenberg of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
