Corinne Q. Scott Goss

Corinne Quarles Scott Goss passed away Friday June 20, 2014, at Beehive Homes in Roswell, NM. Graveside services will be at Carlsbad Cemetery Pavilion, Carlsbad, NM, on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 2:00 PM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Corinne was born May 23, 1918 in Daingerfield, Texas. She was the first born child of James R. Quarles and Annie Lou Harrison Quarles. She graduated from Daingerfield, TX High School in 1936. She married her high school sweetheart, Myrl D. Scott, Dec. 1936. They had two daughters, Cheryl Scott Knight and Adelle Scott Lynch. Myrl served in WWII and passed away in 1949. Corinne married Hubert A. Goss in 1951. They were blessed with another daughter, LuWane Goss Harris. Corinne's husband of over 50 years, Hubert, died in 2002.Corinne moved to Carlsbad as a young bride and lived there until 2006 when she decided to live near Adelle in Roswell, NM. She was a resident of BeeHive Home, where she loved her new friends and caregivers. She was active at First Baptist Church, Carlsbad, all her adult life and taught 9 yr. old girls' Sunday School for many years. Most of her working years were spent in retail sales, both in local stores and also in her own businesses. She tested and assembled electronics for airplane instrument panels at Carlsbad Air Base and also in San Diego during WWII. She upheld their motto, "Keep ' em flyin". She was the best cook ever and spoiled her family with her matchless pies & turkey & dressing. She excelled at everything she did from homemaking, sewing, cooking, painting and sales. She always put others before herself. She had many lifelong friends, new friends, and a loving family. She was a Mrs. Carlsbad Contestant in 1956. She is survived by her three daughters: Cheryl Scott Knight of Boone, NC, Adelle Scott Lynch of Roswell, NM and LuWane Goss Harris of Lockford, CA; sons-in-law: Dr. J. Pat Knight and Ron Lynch, whom she considered her sons; grandchildren: David Knight, Scott Knight, Shannon Lynch Moses (Joel), Annette Lynch Berry (John), Luc Harris (Felicia), Laci Harris; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Knight, Gabrielle Knight, Stephen Knight, Andrew Moses, Kaylee Moses, Robby Love, Ryan Love, Brandon Love, Cara Berry, Luc Harris; great-great-granddaughter, Kyndall Love. Also surviving her are two brothers: James V. (Buddy) Quarles (Pat) of Longview, TX and Gerald Quarles (Mary) of Kilgore, TX, and many nieces & nephews, including her travel buddy niece, Donna Jean Yates Hardin. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands and a sister, Madell Quarles Scott Lankford. She loved Jesus with all her heart and praised Him always in all things.
