Consuelo O. Herrera

Consuelo O. Herrera, 94, of Utah Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2015, 7:00 PM at St. Edward Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2015, 10:00 AM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Consuelo O. Herrera was born September 8, 1920 in Coyame, Chihuahua, Mexico to Matilde and Roberta (Navarrete) Ortega. She married Guadalupe Herrera December 29, 1942. Consuelo raised her children which were years she enjoyed and she was a wonderful cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guadalupe Herrera; son, Guadalupe Herrera; daughter, Soledad Herrera; 6 brothers and two sisters. Survivors are her children: Armando Herrera and wife, Linda, Roberto Herrera and wife, Lusmila, Arturo Herrera and wife, Dora, Abelardo Herrera and wife, Olivia, Elia Hinojos and husband, David, Reynaldo Herrera and wife, Nancy, Sandra Dargas and husband, Noel, Guadalupe Herrera, Jr., Blanca Herrera; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters: Belen Ortega, Roberta Herrera and husband, Arcadio and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Armando Herrera, Jr., Serjio Herrera, Roberto Herrera, Jr., Arturo Herrera, Jr., Juan Herrera and Ricardo Herrera. Honorary pallbearers are Jorge Herrera-Ibarra, Jose Reynaldo, Jorge Herrera, Marquez Vargas and Daniel Chavez Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com
