Connie June Allen

Connie June Allen, 64, of E. Plum Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away March 3, 2010 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 8, 2010, 10:00 AM, at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Brad Coates officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Connie June Allen was born February 13, 1946 in Portales, NM to CB and Janie Lou (Akens) Waide. She graduated form Roswell High School in 1964. Connie married Henry Allen August 14, 1965 in Roswell. They moved to Carlsbad in 1973 to open the Carlsbad office of Allen Roofing, where she was the office manager. Connie was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church and served in many roles. She was past President of the Women's Ministry for several years, taught Sunday School, served as Girls Missionettes Co-Coordinator and Granny's Attic Bazaar Committee Leader. Connie also headed the church wedding and baby shower committee, arranged hospitality meals, planned church retreats, afterglow programs, and along with her husband, Henry, they were responsible for leading the efforts for new playground equipment at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Henry Allen of Carlsbad, NM; two sons, Shawn Allen and wife, Tuesday of Round Rock, TX, Todd Allen and wife Danielle of Carlsbad, NM; four grandchildren: Kaylee Allen, Kenzie Allen, DeLanie Allen, and Tanner Allen; five siblings: Loretta Armstrong and husband, Don of Roswell, NM, James Waide and wife, Claudia of Roswell, NM, Sylvia Allen and husband, Ardist of Roswell, NM, CB Waide and wife, Rosemary of Gunnison, CO, Larry Deen and wife, Karen of Hobbs, NM, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Cody Allen, Tom Banks, Lance Allen, A. J. Deen, Briar Deen, Chad Waide. Honorary pallbearers are Dusty Deen and Heath Allen.
