Concepcion "Chon" Carrasco, Jr., 58, of Washington Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at Artesia General Hospital. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, April 13, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, April 13, 2012, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 1001 North Canal Street. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2012, 3:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Concepcion "Chon" Carrasco, Jr. was born June 18, 1953 in Carlsbad, NM to Concepcion G. and Anita R. (Valenzuela) Carrasco. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1972. Chon always enjoyed Cavemen football games and rarely missed a game. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. Chon was a bingo manager and also served on the Family Fair Committee at San Jose Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family and never turned down an opportunity to be with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother. Survivors are his son, Concepcion "Chonito" Carrasco, III of Oxnard, California; seven siblings: Elda Carrasco of Hobbs, NM, Edwina Rico of Carlsbad, NM, Belinda Lopez of Midland, TX, RoseAnn Garcia and husband, Jose of Carlsbad, NM; Tommy Carrasco of Carlsbad, NM, Ida Mae Foster and husband, Chuck of Carlsbad, NM, Orlando Carrasco and wife, Patricia of Carlsbad, NM; 14 nieces and nephews, 18 great-nieces and nephews and numberous aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers are Orlando Carrasco II, Chuck Foster, Sr., Adrian Carrasco, Chuck Foster, Jr., Manny Baeza, and Gary John Gonzalez. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
