Cleola "Cleo" Gaulden, 85, of West Peppertree Circle, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, June 20, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Land, First Baptist Church, officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Cleola "Cleo" Gaulden was born in Taylor, Arkansas on June 28, 1925 to Guy and Lucy (Lynn) Higdon. She graduated from Plain Dealings High School in Louisiana. Cleo married Wallace R. Gaulden on August 9, 1946 in Shreveport, Louisiana. They lived in Bossier City and Houston a number of years before moving to Carlsbad in 1978. They were co-owners of the Dairy Queen-South with Danny and Carolyn until retiring in 1990. Cleo was often known as "Mrs. G". She was a wonderful cook as well as baker. Cleo always enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Wallace R. Gaulden of Carlsbad, NM; son, Danny Gaulden and wife, Carolyn of Carlsbad, NM; two grandaughters: Christina Daily and husband, Ryan of Houston, TX, Camille Gaulden of Carlsbad, NM; four great-grandchildren: Kayia Gaulden, Kayden Valenzuela, Colson Daily and Everett Daily and siblings: Doris Harris, Marion (Sonny) Higdon, Shirley Haire, Wayne Higdon, Wanda Chesshir and Diane Fletcher.
