Clara Mae Dennis

Clara Mae Dennis, 91, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 7, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, September 13, 2010, 2:00 pm, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Clara Mae Dennis was born April 17, 1919 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Charles and Neoma (James) Hanks. She graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1937. Clara Mae worked for the telephone company and the U. S. Postal Service in Anthony, New Mexico until marring Vurlin B. Dennis. She loved to cook, sew and do craft work. Clara Mae enjoyed visiting with people from the church and discussing current events. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; Vurlin Dennis; son, Monte Dennis; two brothers; three half-brothers and one sister. She is survived by daughter, Neoma Bates and husband, Robert of Great Bend, KS; son, Art Dennis and wife, Jutta of Carlsbad, NM; thirteen grandchildren: Van Dennis, Jon Dennis, Kit Dennis, Renee Laird, Lisa Thompson, Darren Williams, Dennis Bates, Meredith Dennis, Austin Dennis, Sara Dennis, Mark Dennis, Missy Dennis and Terry Dennis. Pallbearers will be Van Dennis, Jon Dennis, Kit Dennis, Renee Laird, Lisa Thompson, Darren Williams, Dennis Bates, Meredith Dennis, Austin Dennis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sara Dennis, Mark Dennis, Missy Dennis and Terry Dennis. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1856, Clovis, NM 88101.
