Christopher “Chris” Vasquez, 38, of Meadowlark Lane, Carlsbad, NM, passed away October 3, 2021 in El Paso, Texas. Cremation has taken place. A vigil will be held at 6 PM, Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 AM, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.

Chris was born August 9, 1983 in Carlsbad, NM to Joe and Denise (Castaneda) Vasquez. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2002. Chris married Cindy Ortega June 23, 2012. He worked at Mosaic Potash for 13 years and most recently was working for WIPP as a hoistman. Chris enjoyed hunting and spending time at the family cabin in the Sacramentos. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Vasquez and grandfather, Danny Castaneda.
Survivors are his wife, Cindy Vasquez; son, Mason Ortega and Teah Webb; parents: Joe and Denise Vasquez; brothers: Joseph Vasquez, Daniel Vasquez and wife, Stephanie; sister, Monica Bunch and husband, Jimmy; grandparents: Ben and Adama Vasquez, Nadine Briones; nieces, Desiree, Joyce, Kameron, Jaylynn and Jimma; nephews: Devin and Jaydon; dogs: Blacky and Koda and numerous extended family.
