Obituary Christina Ridenour, 73, of Chestnut Street, Carlsbad, NM passed away Friday, January 1, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. Christina was born on August 18, 1947, in Mexico City, Mexico to Edwardo and Maria Alcala. Visitation will be 5 PM-7 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation is limited to 5 people in the chapel at a time and facial coverings are required. Private family services will be held at Church Street Nazarene Church. Interment will follow Carlsbad Cemetery. Christina graduated high school from Our Lady Queen of Angels in Los Angeles, CA in 1967. A few years later, she married the love of her life, David Ridenour on December 6, 1969. They then moved to Carlsbad in 1979. Christina worked for many years in the Carlsbad Municipal School District as a teachers assistant and then finally retired from being a principal secretary. She was a faithful follower of Christ, and member of the Church Street Nazarene Church. Christina enjoyed sewing, reading, crafting, gardening, and specially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Christina was preceded in death by her father, Edwardo Alcala; mother, Maria Alcala; and two brothers: Edward Alcala, Jr. and Robert Alcala. Christina is survived by her husband, David Ridenour of Carlsbad, NM; son, Eric Ridenour of Carlsbad, MM; daughter, Vanessa Ridenour of Carlsbad, NM; four grandchildren: Ian Ridenour, Enoch Ridenour, Mathias McGee, and Lily McGee; brother, Paul Alcala and wife, Maria of Marietta, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
