Chesley G. "Ches" Schart, 82, of Cimarron Trail, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away July 26, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Services is scheduled for Thursday, July 29, 2010, 9:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Boyd officiating.
Per his wishes, he will be interred at a National cemetery in recognition of his years of service.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Chesley G. "Ches" Schart was born May 22, 1928 in Nutley, New Jersey to George and Ottilie (Brodbeck) Schart. He graduated from Nutley High School and attended Utah State University where he met Carole Murray, his wife of 59 years. Ches graduated with a Journalism Degree and entered the U. S. Army as a 2nd Lt. He served in the Army for 13 years and held the rank of Major, serving honorably during the Korean Conflict. Ches served the public with his affiliation with the Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Park Service and traveled six years with Habitat for Humanity. He shared many years of traveling with his wife, Carole, exploring several countries and re-tracing the Lewis and Clark Trails. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jackie Lynn Schart.
Survivors are his wife, Carole M. Schart of Carlsbad, NM; three daughters: Vicky Schart of Santa Barbara, CA, Teresa Johnson and husband, Randall of Roseville, CA, and Cindy Call of Vancouver, WA; son, Murray Ches Schart and wife, Reee of Salt Lake City, UT; four granddaughters: Jacqueline, Alicia, Megan, Gabriella and three great-grandchildren: Dakota, Danielle and Colton.
