Charlotte M. Deal Poovey

Charlotte M. Deal Poovey, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Blood bought Savior on October 11, 2013. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, October 18, 2013, 11:00 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with The Rev. Andrew W. Dimit and Rev. David L. Poovey officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Charlotte M. Deal Poovey was born December 16, 1922 in Denver, Colorado to Lester L. and Mabel J. (Poovey) Deal. She graduated from high school in Hickory, North Carolina in 1940. Charlotte married R. F. Poovey on November 15, 1940 in Hickory. They moved to Carlsbad in 1964. Charlotte worked for the Carlsbad Municipal Schools as a Special Education Aid for 15 years. She was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was also a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary Legue and Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. F. Poovey; grandson, Russell Allen Poovey and brother, Norman L. Deal. Survivors are sons: David Poovey and wife, Dee of Prineville, OR, George Anthony Poovey and wife, Elita of Rupert, ID; daughter, Anna Suggs of Las Cruces, NM; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be William Hartzoge, Bill Hartman, Caroll Kirby, Tommy Stevens, Roy Chapler and John Clem. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 901 N.
