Charles R. Stackhouse

Rev. Charles R. Stackhouse, 83, of Los Arboles Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away June 12, 2010 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 11:00 AM, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with his son, Rev. John Stackhouse officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Rev. Charles R. Stackhouse was born August 19, 1926 in Zinc, Arkansas to Charles Edward and Virga (Lahorn) Stackhouse. He grew up in the Texas Panhandle and graduated from Stinnett High School in 1944. Charles married Betty June Jones, July 13, 1950. He attended Grand Canyon College in Phoenix. Charles attended seminary at Golden Gate in California. He began pastoring in Yarnell, Arizona and pastored various churches in California over 52 years. Charles and Betty moved to Carlsbad in 1990 after retiring. He pastored at Ranch Acres Baptist Church for a number of years as well. After Betty's death, Charles married Kate Warren on May 23, 1998 in Carlsbad. He enjoyed sports and reading his Bible. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and wife, Betty Stackhouse in 1996. Survivors are his wife, Kate Stackhouse of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Charrie Waters and husband, Kenneth of Sherman, TX; son, John Stackhouse and wife, Paula of Upland, CA; Kate's sons: Jim Warren of Flagstaff, AZ, Bob Warren of Carlsbad, NM and her daughter, Geraldine Bain of Lake Arthur, NM; three grandchildren: Crystal Parks and husband, Scott, Robby Waters, Stevie Stackhouse, five great-grandchildren: Chris, Gregory, Byron, Matthew, Rachael and Kate's grandchldren and great-grandchldren. Pallbearers will be Chuck Anderson, Jim Warren, Robert Warren, Russell Warren, Dalton Warren and Austin Warren. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O.
