Charles R. Beeson, M.D., 86, of San Juan Manor, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 25, 2010 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A Memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 29, 2010, 5:00 PM, at Sunset Church of Christ with Rische Beeson and Brian McGonagill officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 PM, Monday, February 1, 2010 in Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Charles R. Beeson, M.D. was born June 8, 1923 in Waldo, Arkansas to Ulrich Rische and Mary Lelia (Beasley) Beeson. He graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical School. Dr. Beeson served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corp. He then did advanced medical training at Stanford University and Tulane University. Dr. Beeson established a private practice in Albuquerque in 1950 where he practiced in family and cardiology medicine until 1980. He married Jeanne Hayes on November 2, 1965 in Albuquerque. Dr. Beeson was instrumental in establishing the UNM School of Medicine and then Bernalillo County Medical Center (UNMH). He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and snow skiing, but most of all he loved his Lord. Dr. Beeson was honored to serve as an Elder, Deacon and Bible Teacher for many years. Charles and Jeanne moved to Carlsbad in 2001 to be close to their daughter, Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents and adopted sister, Cecilia Vigil. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Hayes Beeson of Carlsbad, NM; six children: Mary Charlotte Elliott and husband, Dale of Spring, TX, Charles Rische Beeson, Jr. and wife, Diana of Lubbock, TX, Medley Anne Beeson Ohler of Houston, TX, Dr. Harold Deck Beeson and wife, Margaret of Las Cruces, NM, Thomas Edward Beeson and wife, Rebecca of Alamogordo, NM; Ann Ardath Beeson of Carlsbad, NM; 13 grandchildren. 14 great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons: Roger Elliott, Trey Beeson, Chris Beeson, Josh Beeson, Kent Ohler, Adam Ohler and Noah Beeson.
