Memorial services for Charles E. Kellum, 95, of Bakersfield, CA will be Wednesday November 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in East Peoria, IL with Pastor Dan Lybarger performing the service. Direct cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 10:00 to 10:45 preceding the service. He died Wednesday November 16, 2011 in Bakersfield, CA. Denton-Wood Funeral Home in Carlsbad, NM is in charge of arrangements. Charles Edward Kellum was born October 29, 1916 at Hadley, IL. to Eugene and Rebecca Hunter Kellum. He worked at the Caterpillar, Inc proving grounds for 35 years . He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carlsbad, NM. His parents; two brothers: Emery E. Kellum and Merrill F. Kellum; one sister, Edna L. Kellum and best friend and partner, Anne DuCharme preceded him in death. Survivors include Anne's son, Dr.Richard (Hedy) DuCharme of Colorado Springs, CO, and nine beloved nieces and nephews: Edward Kellum (the late Janet) of Monrovia, CA, Elvin (Inell) Kellum of Biloxi, MS, Larry (Fran) Kellum of Minneola, FL, Joanne (the late Jack) Moore of Hendricks, MN, Merrilyn (Russell) Schultz of Naperville, IL, Ronald (Betty) Kellum of East Peoria, IL, Kaye (Katherine) of Mona, UT, Donald (Linda) Kellum of Morton, IL, and Glenn (Marilyn) Kellum of Pekin, IL. Charles enjoyed many things in life and was blessed by many friends where ever he lived. After retirement, he moved from Illinois to Florida then later to New Mexico and California. He will be sorely missed.
